Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is at the cutting edge of energy medicine. It's growing popularity is understandable due to it's profound effects of deep lasting healing, and resolution of long standing chronic conditions as well as short term issues. It is a gentle touch therapy that is holistic; taking a whole-person approach to healing. It has a powerful effect on the nervous system and cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF), and improves the flow of all fluids throughout the body making communication between systems more effective which promotes better function and wholeness.
BCST is an effective form of treatment for a wide range of conditions because it helps to create the optimal conditions for health, encouraging vitality and facilitating a sense of well being. BCST can affect deep patterns in the mind and body, providing the client with clear inner guidance to observe both their physical and mental/emotional landscape and support change on a very profound level. It is suitable for people of all ages including babies, children, adults and the elderly, and is effective for acute or chronic cases.
BCST is based on Osteopathic principals that were founded over 100 years ago in which subtle movements throughout the body were attributed to the body's inherent life force, or "Breath of Life". The "Breath of Life" produces a series of subtle rhythms that may be felt in the body. At least three subtle rhythms have been identified and are known as the "primary respiration". This is the expression of Health that is the essence of our being.
In the course of our life we encounter all sorts of stress and strain that gets locked in our body. These stresses may be physical or mental and can be overwhelming for our nervous system. When we have unresolved stress locked in our body, the tissues and fluids no longer move normally. This leads to resistance, compression and fixation in the tissues, leading to body aches, pains, joint stiffness and many other symptoms of discomfort and dis-ease. We may behave in ways that are inappropriate for the situation because our nervous system is holding onto a stress response that was programed years earlier.
In the Biodynamic approach,
the therapist learns to identify areas of the body that
are holding tension and resisting primary respiration. The intention of
treatment is to relate to the underlying wisdom in the body, the "Health" of the system, enhancing the body's own self-healing.
The practitioner does this with a deep and clear quality
of presence that allows a shift in perception and encourages the resolution of forces
held in the body, tissues can return to normal function and motion,
mental/emotional patterns can shift and relationship with Health is restored.
In BCST the practitioner learns to relate to the Health of the system, not just the patterns of resistance and fixation, no matter what the clinical circumstances. This is a paradigm shift for most health care systems, even "holistic" therapy.
Dr. Nancy Anne Schrauth completed a 3 year training
with Franklyn Sills of the Karuna Institute in Boulder,
Colorado. She has helped people with a variety of conditions
including stress and anxiety disorders, insomnia, TMJ, headaches, sinusitis, tinnitus, neck and back pain.
It has worked wonders to diminish the side effects of chemo therapy and help the body recover from it's devastating effects. It has been especially helpful in babies with various
digestive, immune, respiratory or sleeping problems.
She works with Body Intelligence facilitating the 2-year, 50-day BCST Practitioner Training in South East Asia and gives free intro talks at Elder Chiropractic Clinic. For more information about the next free talk and to
